Thales Communications SA
Thales (http://www.thalesgroup.com/) is a leading international electronics and systems group, serving defence, aerospace and security markets worldwide, supported by a comprehensive services offering. The company's civil and military businesses develop in parallel to serve a single objective: the security of people, property and nations. Leveraging a global network of high-level researchers, Thales offers a capability unmatched in Europe to develop and deploy critical information systems. Digital technologies, mobile communications, integrated services and the explosion of the Internet offer exciting new business opportunities and are completely changing the face of Telecommunications. Thales has been one of the driving forces behind these changes, and the features and functions that are now available are already part of the company’s product offering for government agencies and major organizations.
Expertise brought to CONNECT
The Thales company involved in this project is Thales Communications S.A., which is developing new products, pooling technical expertise or developing joint bids under numerous agreements with its European partners. Thales Communications S.A. also co-operates with many SMEs and Research Centers in National or European Programs. Thales is a contributing member to the OMG and is part of its architecture board and board of directors. Within Thales Communications S.A., the Software Core for Computer based systems department (SC2) located in Massy (France) has a mission to study and provide middleware solutions for future Thales systems and is acting for the whole Thales group.
Contribution to CONNECT research
SC2 brings on behalf of TCF the technical involvement in the following fields: (i) Contribution to the CONNECT architectural framework definition, (ii) Implementation, integration and validation of use case scenarios based on ticketing and GMES (Global Monitoring for Environment & Security) use cases. Moreover, Thales leads the exchanges with the OMG Task Forces involved in possible standardization efforts.
